Clive Wooster

To BARC Midlands Centre, the Championship is as much about keeping our competitors happy as it is about ensuring we continue to deliver excellent events. So, to gauge how we’re getting on, our Championship Press Officer, Kate Neal, caught up with Mr Wooster before the 2019 Season to find out a little more about him, his car and his thought on the previous year. Clive has been a stalwart of the BARC Speed Championship for more years than he cares to remember, but we know it’s over twenty. Here’s what he had to say…

Please tell us a little about the history of your car…

Originally a Track day car owned by a pal from new. We shared it for a while and then I bought it from him. We’ve changed a fair bit from its original spec.

Do you have any help getting the car ‘Race Ready’?

I certainly do! It’s looked after by Phil Price and the team at Connaught Competition Engines, our title sponsor. Phil has gradually developed it to where it is now.

What did you enjoy most about 2018?

For something completely different MotoFest Coventry and for its beautiful location, Loton Park Hill Climb.

If you were permitted a co-driver, who would it be?

Someone good, but about one second slower than me.

Clive Wooster - Rockingham 2018

Do you have a mascot?

No.

What do you plan to do during downtime?

Long distance walking, writing, cycling and working at Thruxton.

Do you perform any funny customs before going out on track?

No, I’m a bit too laid back sometimes and have to gee myself up. I fell asleep in the tow car at Aintree once and missed two timed runs. Fortunately, there were four more to go!
