BARC Midlands remains committed to providing high quality sprint events to support club level motorsport across the UK.
In 2022 we delivered the first of our Landmark Sprint Series at Cadwell Park, followed by a second event at Snetterton during the August Bank Holiday weekend. This season we returned to Cadwell Park, extended our Snetterton 100 Sprint to a double-header and successfully managed the return of the MotoFest Coventry Sprint.
All this was achieved by a small team of dedicated volunteers in the free time available outside of their commercial employment. In return, these events attracted fantastic support from a wide range of popular speed series, but we were disappointed by the ‘limited’ level of entries from our own BARC Speed Championship competitors.
Based on historic experience, BARC Midlands knows it takes several years to establish any new event. Unfortunately, substantially increased overheads and the the cost-of-living crisis’s impact on entry levels made delivering this season’s sprints far more commercially challenging than expected. Combined with limited internal resources and the health of our main event organiser, we have taken the unpalatable decision to cancel our final event of the season at Curborough on 14th October. This was not taken lightly, or without exploring all alternative options available. Our team sincerely apologises for the disappointment we know this will cause.
BARC Midlands is currently restructuring resources and reviewing the costs associated with delivering our events. We assure all our current supporters, and those considering competing with us next season, that with the backing of the BARC, our Cadwell Park Sprint on 23 March 2024, MotoFest Coventry Sprint on 1 & 2 June 2024 and our double-header at Snetterton on 24 & 25 August 2024 are already confirmed and will definitely go ahead.
We sincerely thank everyone who has supported us during the 2023 Season and hope to see you all again next year.
