Welcome to the 2025 Season! We hope everyone who took part in last year’s Championship enjoyed competing with us.
Once again, the major delay in opening registration has caused everyone at BARC Midlands substantial disappointment, as we’re sure it has for both established and potential competitors.
Due to introduction of the National Competition Rules, submission of the Championship Regulations to Motorsport UK was delayed until late January. This was followed by almost a two month wait for final approval before the permit was finally issued.
However, we’re delighted that registration is now open! Our thanks to every competitor who’s kept in touch for being so patient, we really appreciate your support.
KEY CHANGES FOR 2025
NATIONAL COMPETITION RULES
As previously mentioned, the biggest change for 2025 is the introduction of the National Competition Rules (NCR). As a result, you’ll see new abbreviated references to these in the Championship Regulations – Ch. for Chapter, App. for Appendix and Art. for Article. It’s now every competitor’s responsibility to familiarise themselves with the changes these rules represent. A copy of the latest National Competition Rules is available from the Resource Centre, part of the Motorsport UK website.
CHAMPIONSHIP REGULATIONS
In addition to the changes required to align with the NCRs, BARC Midlands is conscious of the ongoing social and financial pressures many people continue to face. In response, points accumulated from entry in eight rounds (previously ten) will now represent each driver’s final Championship score. We hope the reduced commitment and cost saving this change delivers provides substantial benefit and encourages more competitors to join us.
SPONSORSHIP & AWARDS
Until BARC Midlands believes any sponsorship of the Championship can deliver tangible benefits for suitable partners and our competitors, the Centre will continue to fund the Championship independently. The increased prize fund introduced in 2024 will be maintained, along with the introduction of two new awards – Queen or King of the Hills and The Course Challenge Cup. Please see section 1.10 of the Championship Regulations for further details.
The overall 2025 Winner will receive £500, a trophy, and tickets for the national BARC Awards (Big Night Out). Here, they’ll also be awarded the coveted Wilkinson Sword in the company of all the BARC Championship winners, including BTCC and TCR UK.
MOTOFEST COVENTRY SPRINT
As many people already know, despite months of work by BARC and BARC Midlands Centre to ensure a future for the MotoFest Coventry Sprint, it looks like this unique event has metaphorically ‘reached the end of its road’. Unfortunately, this decision was outside BARC and BARC Midland Centre’s control. After actively supporting MotoFest for over ten years, this has caused everyone involved heartfelt disappointment, and we know this applies to many competitors too.
Although it will be almost impossible to replace the MotoFest Coventry Sprint with a like-for-like event, BARC Midlands, backed by the support of BARC, is looking to find an alternative LandMark sprint for 2026. Discussions are currently in the very early stages. However, if progress can be made, we’ll be sure to provide news later this season.
2025 CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS
We’re keen to make the BARC Midlands Big Night Out even more of a success than it’s been in previous years. So, we’re delighted to confirm this will be held at The Manor Hotel in Meriden from 7:30pm on Saturday 22 November 2025. We’ve also changed the Championship Regulations to deliver more opportunities for every BARC Speed Championship competitor to take home a prize, providing an additional incentive to attend. Tickets will go on sale soon, so please keep an eye on the website for more details.
We also sincerely thank Raymond Good Joiners for continuing to support the Championship during 2025.
2026 & BEYOND…
During the months to come, Taras, Liam and the BARC Midlands Team will continue to review various aspect of the Championship, with the ongoing aim of making improvements that will benefit our competitors by establishing a more structured and enjoyable format.
The 2025 BARC Speed Championship
The BARC Speed Championship is open to all current members of BARC, plus over forty invited motorsport clubs as detailed in Section 1.3.1 of the Championship Regulations.
This season competitors can choose from twenty-four rounds at some of the best motorsport circuit, sprint and hill climb venues in the UK. For 2025, points accumulated from entry in just eight rounds will represent each driver’s final Championship score.
With the recent loss of the MotoFest Coventry Sprint, BARC Midlands will now host three Championship rounds, the first at Cadwell Park, followed by a double header at Snetterton Circuit. Our sister BARC Centres and other leading motorsport clubs will deliver the remaining twenty-one rounds. You can enter any BARC Midlands event by visiting our online shop, with booking links for all rounds added to the 2025 Championship Calendar as they become available.
