2023 Speed Championship

It’s Not What You Drive…
…It’s How You Drive It.

Welcome to the 2023 BARC Connaught Speed Championship, the enjoyable, engaging and truly competitive series for established drivers. What’s more, this Championship also provides an easily accessible and affordable entry point for new competitors who are keen to experience the thrills of motorsport.

Catering for almost every type of vehicle from standard road cars to single-seater racing cars, Championship entry is open to all British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) members, plus current members of over forty motorsport clubs.*

For the 2023 season, the BARC Connaught Speed Championship Calendar features twenty-eight rounds at some of the best motorsport circuits, sprint and hill climb venues in the UK, with points accumulated from your choice of any ten rounds representing your final score. This choice of diverse driving environments and nationwide locations allows you to plan according to ability, availability and budget.

Join The UK’s Top Drivers

Scoring is based on class records. This allows every type of vehicle to accumulate the same amount of points and ensures that all competitors have a fair chance of taking home a prize. The overall BARC Connaught Speed Championship winner receives the prestigious Wilkinson Sword and £300, presented at the BARC Big Night Out. Here she or he will join all the BARC Championships winners, including the winner of the British Touring Car Championship. There’s also £150 and a trophy for second place, £75 and a trophy for third place, plus first, second and third place trophies for the winners of Standard, Road, Modified, Sports Libre and Racing car classes too.

In addition to the main prizes there are four Bonus Awards: The Raymond Good Trophy, the TQ Classic Speed Trophy, the Goldfinch Automotive Top Ten Trophy and the Emerald Award. Together, these deliver even more winning opportunities, offering a combination of cash prizes and awards. These are presented, along with the all the other awards, at an exclusive BARC Connaught Speed Championship Dinner, currently scheduled for November 2023.

Be Part of Something Far Bigger

The Championship is supported by the British Automobile Racing Club, one of the world’s most established and successful motorsport organisations.

The BARC operates Thruxton, Pembrey and Croft Circuits, hill climbs at Gurston Down and Harewood, plus six regional centres. Together, we deliver an extensive annual calendar of events including Goodwood Revival and Goodwood Festival of Speed, plus over forty popular championships. These range from the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the British Endurance Championship and the Motorsport UK British Hillclimb Championship to the British Truck Racing Championship and the British Touring Car Championship, the UK’s most popular national racing series.
