Welcome to the 2023 Season! We hope that everyone who entered last year’s Championship enjoyed competing with us.
This season competitors can choose from twenty-eight rounds at some of the best motorsport circuit, sprint and hill climb venues in the UK. And, as always, points accumulated from entry in any ten of these rounds will continue to represent each driver’s final Championship score.
New for 2023
This year’s Championship Regulations remain relatively unchanged. However, for clarity, the amendments that have been made are as follows:
The BARC Connaught Speed Championship is open to all current members of BARC. However, BARC Midlands has replaced the four Regional Associations (the maximum allowed by Motorsport UK) with a list of over forty motorsport clubs. We hope this will help to simplify eligibility.
TQ CLASSIC SPEED TROPHY
BARC Midlands is delighted to welcome the first of our new sponsors, Tillicoultry Quarries, which will be funding the awards and cash prizes for the 2023 Classic Speed Trophy. Based on competitor feedback, this is now open to Road Cars and Racing Cars manufactured before 1st January 1980. Dedicated pre-1980 classes have been added to the existing class structure accordingly, each with its own target time.
GOLDFINCH AUTOMOTIVE TOP TEN TROPHY
BARC Midlands is also delighted to welcome Goldfinch Automotive who have generously agreed to support a new Top Ten Trophy. This is open to all BARC Connaught Speed Championship competitors, featuring first, second and third place awards and associated cash prizes.
For 2023, Class awards have been amalgamated, seeing the introduction of first, second and third place trophies for Standard Car, Road Car, Sports Libre and Racing Car classes.
CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SYSTEM
Introduction of the BARC Connaught Speed Championship online points system in 2022 received positive feedback from almost every competitor. This season, BARC Midlands will be investing in further development, seeing the addition of enhancements suggested by competitors, plus individual results tables for the Raymond Good Trophy, TQ Classic Speed Trophy, Goldfinch Automotive Top Ten Trophy and the Emerald Award.
Our Championship Sponsors
We are delighted to confirm that our title sponsor, Connaught Competition Engines, will continue to support the championship. Over the past thirty-six years, Phil Price and his team have developed an enviable reputation as one of the UK’s leading competition engine preparation specialists. Adrian and the BARC Midlands team hope this partnership will help to sustain Connaught’s success for many years to come.
Connaught Competition Engines is accompanied by support from Raymond Good, Tillicoultry Quarries, Goldfinch Automotive and Emerald M3D, each sponsoring one of the championship’s four bonus awards.
The Championship Calendar
During the season, BARC Midlands will host six Championship rounds at Cadwell Park, MotoFest Coventry, Snetterton Circuit and Curborough Sprint Course. Our sister BARC Centres and other leading motorsport clubs will deliver the remaining twenty-two. You will be able to enter any BARC Midlands event by visiting our online shop, with booking links for all other rounds added to the 2023 Championship Calendar as they become available.
